Quickie Company Scholarship

The Quickie Scholarship program will provide a $3,000 Scholarship to 2 graduating seniors from Robeson County per year of their four-year education.  This is for students who will be attending UNC-Pembroke. The student must be enrolled full time and maintain a C or better grade point average. North Carolina State Employees Credit Union Foundation Community College Scholarship Program

The SECU Foundation has established a major scholarship program to assist students in each of the 58 community colleges in the North Carolina Community College System.  There are 116 two-year scholarships valued at up to $5,000 each. Nurse Scholars Program

The Nurse Scholars Program (NSP) is a competitive, merit-based scholarship/loan program available to students who have chosen to enter the nursing profession. Financial need is not a criterion. An 11-member Nurse Scholars Commission selects recipients for the award on the basis of superior academics (3.0 minimum grade point average on a 4.0 scale), leadership potential, and desire to practice nursing on a full-time basis in North Carolina. Recipients must be NC residents. Students must plan to enter a nursing program at a participating college or university in the state of North Carolina or hospitals that offer nurse education programs which prepare students for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Value

The annual value of the award is based upon the type of nurse education sought. Enrolled on a full-time, 12 credit hour per semester basis, candidates for the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) will receive $3,000; for the (Hospital) Diploma in Nursing, $3,000; and for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), $5,000 per year. Also, a $2,500 per year scholarship/loan is available for a RN seeking a BSN degree. One half of the award is made available to recipients in the fall semester and the remainder in the spring semester. The NSP scholarship/loan is renewable. Subject to legislative funding, up to 400 NSP scholarships/loans will be awarded annually.

North Carolina Student Loan Program for Health, Science and Mathematics

This program was established in 1945 to provide encouragement and financial assistance to qualified North Carolina residents pursuing degrees or other recognized credentials in selected health, science and mathematics programs.

Eligibility

The North Carolina Student Loan Program for Health, Science and Mathematics (HSM) is awarded based on major, academic capabilities and financial need. Recipients must be legal residents of North Carolina for tuition purposes who have been accepted as full-time students in accredited associate, baccalaureate, master's or doctoral programs leading to degrees in specified health, science or mathematics-related fields.

 

Associate Degree/Certificate Programs: $3,000 per year. Maximum loan amount is $6,000 for two years if unconditionally accepted into a specific program discipline.

Baccalaureate Degree/Certificate Programs: $5,000 per year for two years, with possible third clinical year. Maximum loan amount is $15,000.

A recipient must enroll full-time for both the fall and spring semesters. One half of the award is made available to the recipient in the fall semester and the remainder in the spring semester. The scholarship-loan is renewable. Funding for the program is contingent each year upon appropriations made available to the State Education Assistance Authority by the General Assembly

Golden LEAF Scholarship

A total of 580 scholarships will be available for new and renewal students.

  • Priority for scholarships will be given to students from families adversely affected by the decline of the tobacco industry.
  • The selection criteria for applicants will not include the value of real property owned by farm families.
  • Recipients of other scholarships amounting to 75% or more of the total costs to attend a public university will be given low priority for a Golden LEAF Scholarship.
  • Students who have earned four-year (bachelor) degrees are not eligible for consideration.

Prospective Teacher Scholarship Loan

The Prospective Teacher Scholarship Loan is a competitive, merit-based scholarship-loan program available to full-time students who have chosen to enter the education profession. A school official such as a high school guidance counselor or principal must recommend students for this award. Recipients must have maintained a minimum unweighted cumulative grade point average of a 2.5 or better, received a score of 900 or better on the SAT or equivalent ACT score, enroll in a teacher preparation program at any of the eligible institutions, and plan to pursue a degree in teacher education to become a certified teacher and demonstrate a commitment to teach in the State's public schools. The John Motley MOREHEAD Foundation Scholarship

Along with basic criteria for The Morehead-evidence of moral force of character, capacities to lead and motivate fellow students, scholastic ability, extracurricular achievement, and physical vigor as shown by participation in sports and in other ways-Morehead selection committees seek to identify young people with high levels of commitment, courage, creativity, and independence, among other qualities. North Carolina State USBC Association, Inc. Youth Scholarship

A. The scholarship is provided by the North Carolina State United States Bowling Congress Association, Inc (NCS USBCA); a non-profit organization.

B. The amount of the scholarship is $1,500.

C. The scholarship can be applied to any recognized college, university, or trade school. Funds may also be applied to books as well as tuition.

D. Approved scholarships are deposited in the approved fund governed by the recognized national governing body (USBC).

ELIGIBILITY

A. Any senior student in a North Carolina high school prior to the age of22, (as of February 28).

B. Must be a current member of the NCS USBCA and bowling in a certified USBC North Carolina youth league.

C. Files a completed application with the Association Manager of the NCSUSBCA. Application must be postmarked no later than March 1st.

D. The applicant must have an unimpaired amateur standing in bowling.

E. Must have a grade point average at the school with expectations of admissions to a recognized institution.
