The United Students of African American Heritage is an organization that honors African American culture and history through fellowship and community service efforts. The 2019 – 2020 School year Fellowship activities will include the following: Organizational meetings, Annual Black History Program, College tours, Read Across America 2020, and other community projects that present during the year. The Peterkin Law Firm, a dedicated sponsor, sponsored our 2019 USAAH trip that included a college tour of Historically Black University St. Augustine in Raleigh, Mechanics and Farmers Bank in Durham and black-owned business Beyu Café also located in Durham. The Mechanics and Farmers Bank is the second-oldest minority-owned bank in the U.S. and has long been a symbol of Durham's African-American community. It's the only black-owned bank based in North Carolina. Moreover, members dined at Beyu Café a black-owned business in downtown Durham, and talked to owner Dorian Bolden about entrepreneurship.
