Open Arms Nursing Facility                              Open Arms Nursing Facility-  Simulated Workplace
Welcome parents, students, members of the community, and fellow teachers.  Please take a moment to view my site.
Hello, My Name is Joni Howell and I am the Health Science Teacher. I am a Registered Nurse, and nursing is my heart and passion.  I look forward to helping students understand the impact that a health care career can have on their lives, as well as the lives of others.  In Health Team Relations, students learn medical terminology, medical history, different cultural beliefs and much more about health. Health Team Relations is the beginner class that all students need, if interested in a health care career. In Health Science I, students learn about the anatomy (structure) and physiology (function) of our human body.  In Health Science II, students explore the trends in health care, legal/ethical issues of health care, concepts of teamwork and other related topics. Nursing Fundamentals focuses more on the clinical aspect of nursing. Each class will be taught with real life in mind. We are now using simulated workplace, which means we oragnize our classroom like a buisness. The name of our facility is Open Arms Nursing Facility.
I am really big on parental involvement. I encourage all parents to share in your child's learning. Get involved, and stay in the know about what's happening in your child's classes. All PowerPoint information for each objective, and medical terminology can be found on google classroom. Each class has been given the class code for access.
I currently teach Health Science 2 and Health Team Relations. Parents, please encourage your child to review notes each night, along with weekly terminology. If you need assistance or have questions,  please feel free to contact me at 910-843-4211 or email joni.howell@robeson.k12.nc.us
