• Morehead Planetarium and Raleigh-Durham Airport

Third and fourth grade students at W.H. Knuckles Elementary visited Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  A generous individual has provided funding for several schools in Lumberton to attend programs at Morehead. The scholarship program covers the cost of a ticket and a boxed lunch for each student, plus a transportation stipend of $150 per school. The students participated in planetarium shows aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, Discovery classes, Science LIVE! demonstrations, exhibits and movies that captured their imaginations and illustrated key science concepts. You can also read more about the opportunity at Ethel R. Ivey Scholarship Program.

A stop at the Raleigh-Durham airport afforded our boys and girls the opportunity to visit the observation deck.  There they witnessed air trafficking.  Now that’s a thrill you don’t see in Robeson County everyday!
