    Physics Honors Syllabus

    Fall 2012

    WELCOME TO PHYSICS!!

I am looking forward to agreat semester in physics and know that you are too!  A few guidelines and a tremendous amount ofcommon sense will make this course go more smoothly.  We expect ALL students to succeed, andtherefore, require the students to accept many responsibilities.  These include being in your seat and havinghomework in the correct location when the bell rings, covering your textbook, and showing respect to all persons. These also include READING your text on your own time.

    In addition:

All students must complete their OWN work or the work is not acceptable.  Both those copying and those from whom the paper was copied will receive zeros.

    1. If you are out of school, the work is due the day you return.  If you sign in/out, the work is still due that day.  Otherwise, late work is 15 pts deducted for same day late; 30 pts deducted for one day late.  No credit after this.
    2. All projects will have due dates established well in advance, and this work is due on the due date regardless of the reason the student is out of school. ALL late projects will have points deducted.
    3. Make-up tests are only given before school or at teacher discretion.  Be prepared for either.  If you cannot come before school, DO NOT miss the scheduled test.
    4. Tutoring is available by appointment.  TAKE ADVANTAGE!
    5. The following will be used as the grading criteria: Honors Grading Scale

Each student's grade will be determined by performance in thefollowing areas:

    1.   All major tests andprojects will count 50 % of the total 9-week grade.

     2. Class work, homework, quizzes, and other assignments will count for 50% of the total 9-week grade

    3. The Final Exam will count 1/4 (25%) of the total grade forthis course.
