Courtney Brianna Hunt, Senior, has been selected to participate in the National AISES Conference to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She will be traveling with other 6 other students from the local high schools. The conference is held November 9-13, 2011.
The American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) is a national, nonprofit organization which nurtures building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native values. Through its educational programs, AISES provides opportunities for American Indians and Native Alaskans to pursue studies in science, engineering, business, and other academic arenas. The trained professionals then become technologically informed leaders within the Indian community. AISES' ultimate goal is to be a catalyst for the advancement of American Indians and Native Alaskans as they seek to become self-determined members of society.
The purpose of the AISES Club will be to conduct meetings and activities which will enhance the attainment of the goals set forth in the mission statement.
Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming AISES Science Fair to be held at the Indian Education Resource Center is Pembroke. All students in grades 5-12 are encouraged to participate. Please see the Youth Development Specialist for more information.
