    FICTION

The Library currently houses some 2200 works of fiction for student and staff use. While a certain emphasis is placed on quality, award winning books for young readers, such as Newberry Medal Winner and Honor books, ALA awards, etc, many popular titles of interest to the school’s young readers are also available as a means of encouraging them to read for enjoyment. Reading for enjoyment is a proven means of improving a student’s reading ability and academic performance. While over all quality is important, a work of fiction need not be a work of fine art in order to stimulate a healthy interest in reading and improvement in reading skills.
