Currently school media coordinators coordinate the Accelerated Reader Program.
The purpose of the Accelerated Reader program is to motivate students to read. The Accelerated Reader offers many proven benefits to students. It improves reading scores and provides for authentic assessment and builds higher order thinking skills. It fosters a lifelong love of reading. Finally, the program assesses and recognizes student achievement.
The Accelerated Reader combines reading library books with computer-based comprehension tests to inspire student to read more and better books. The Accelerated Reader software also manages student records to track reading performance, giving teachers valuable information to identify problem areas.
