    ROLES OF THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
     
    Grades K-2
    • Serve as strong advocate/positive role model
    • Monitor attendance of all Indian students
    • Make home visits when necessary
    • Send correspondence to parents
    • Make telephone calls for attendance daily
    • Individual supplemental counseling/support when necessary
    • Monitor and collect Indian Education 506 forms
    • Parent, teacher, administrative conferences
    • Make referrals to community agencies when necessary
    • Identify and recruit positive Indian role models as resource persons
     
     
    Grades 3 - 6
     
    8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
     
    • Tutoring groups in reading
    • Group supplemental counseling/support

    12:00 noon - 3:15 p.m.

    • Monitor attendance of all Indian students
    • Make home visits when necessary
    • Send correspondence to parents
    • Make telephone calls for attendance daily
    • Monitor and collect Indian Education 506 forms
    • Parent, teacher, administrative  conferences
    • Make referrals to community agencies when necessary
    • Work on incentive program
    • Conduct a craft workshop, if possible
    • Recruit students for Summer Enrichment Camp & Indian Education Resource Center Reading Camp  
    • Prepare/submit project reports
    • Attend monthly staff meetings
     
    Grades 7-8
    • Group supplemental counseling/support
    • Monitor attendance of all Indian students

    • Monitor and collect Indian Education 506 forms
