The intent of Arts Education is for students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between arts, geography, history, and culture of world civilizations.
The syllabus for any course constitutes a contract between teacher and student formulated prior to the beginning of the course and lasting from the first class until the final grade is assigned. A syllabus performs a variety of functions which have positive effects when the instructor has considered carefully what guidelines and information should be included.
Art is a universal language for all civilizations. It conveys learning and meaning that cannot be conveyed through the study of other subjects. Connections with core subjects are interwoven throughout the Arts Education Essential Standards. (The Essential Standards (2010) were filtered through The Framework for 21st Century Skills (http://www.21stcenturyskills.org).
