    Ms. Kim's 4th grade Class!!
Hello, thanks for stopping by. I am Kimberly McNeill, a 4th grade teacher at Union Chapel Elementary School. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Sociology. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Master's Degree in Technology. I am a mother of a 12 year old boy named Jaaron. He is the light of my world. I chose to become a teacher because I love working with children and I wanted to make a difference in the lives of my students. Some of my favorite things to do are spending time with my son, shopping, reading, and relaxing. I also enjoy singing, taking pictures, and taking vacations to the beach when I am not with my students.
    Philosophy of Teaching
My classroom is very student-centered and I facilitate learning by helping students formulate meaningful questions and devise strategies to answer those questions. I believe in finding answers through real life experiences. My students work independently and in small groups, move about and talk freely. The bookshelves are filled with books, materials, software, and projects designed to attract my students' interests on a variety of topics. I believe that learning should be fun and engaging. I do alot of hands-on activities and require student participation in my lessons. I am constantly circling the room, talking to my students and small groups, and asking questions and making suggestions. I make ample time for learning, keep students actively engaged, and encourage student self-management, self-control, and responsibility. I encourage my students to work cooperatively together and I build my curriculum around the experiences, interests, and abilities of my students.
    Mission Statement
My mission for this class is to have my students actively engaged in learning. I want my students to be aware that each day opens new doors to the world of learning. I aim to keep every child excited about school and the adventure it holds. I also want to insure that my students receive a high quality education that provides the required skills and knowledge necessary for building a strong educational foundation. And lastly, I want to enable each student to become an independent learner, who strives to do their best work.
