Welcome to Mrs. Samantha Oxendine's Class
Exceptional Needs Teacher
My name is Ms. Samantha Oxendine, I attended Union Elementary as a child and have lived in the community most of my life. I graduated from Pembroke State University in 1996 with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work. After working as a social worker in the private and public sector for ten years I returned to school and became licensed to teach Special Education. My philosophy is that everyone should commit to being lifelong learners. True to my philosophy I've continued my education and have became certified to teach middle to high school English and graduated from Lesley University with a Masters of Education in Technology and Instruction. In 2014 I obtained National Board Certification in the area of Early Childhood to Young Adult - Exceptional Needs in the area of Mild to Moderate Disabilities. I am committed to the children and families I work with and am positive this school year will be successful and exciting for us all. In an effort to ensure success for your child frequent communication is important. I encourage you each to visit with your child and become actively involved not only in their education but the involvement of the school as a whole. Please contact me regarding academic or other concerns you have any time during the year (910) 521-4272 or (910) 522-4945. Conferences can be scheduled during my planning time by appointment, before or after school.
