COURSE DESCRIPTION: The goal of this course is to equip students with the tools to visualize and interpret the world around them. Art is visual language that is found in every other academic discipline. Students will learn this new language through various art making projects as well as through the study of art history, aesthetics, and criticism as outlined in the NC Essential Standards for Visual Arts.
All art projects will focus on the elements and principles of design within a studio atmosphere. We will address big ideas through a variety of experiences including: hands-on, readings, writing, and class discussion.
1. Always be prepared for class by bringing items from supply list daily.
2. Students must do their best on projects, assignments and turn them in on time.
3. Have high expectations and be creative.
