• The purpose of the Battle of the Books program is to encourage reading by all students at the elementary and middle school level. The game format creates interest. Through the fun and excitement of the competition, students improve reading skills, mature in their choice of reading materials, and acquire a broader knowledge base.

    The 2019-20 2nd/3rd grades Battle of the Books competition will be March 4-6 and 4th/5th grades competition will be March 18-20, at Lumberton Junior High School.
