The mission of the JROTC Leadership Academy is to motivate young people to be better citizens. The program's outstanding curriculum is designed to have students examine and develop qualities of leadership, citizenship and character while fostering partnerships with the Lumberton community and educational institutions.

The program incorporates principles of mental and physical wellness. The curriculum provides for an in-depth understanding of physical and political geography, builds global awareness and relates events in U.S. history to choices and responsibilities.

The leadership program enjoys a collaborative partnership with various branches of the military. Throughout the year, JROTC Leadership Academy will host outstanding speakers who share their views on leadership and citizenship.

Academy cadets will work on integrated projects focused around the leadership and citizenship curriculum. Together with other classes, students will develop the skills necessary to enter the work force, find further training in the military or go on to college upon graduation from high school.
