PSRC Mental Health Minute

Happiness Happens Month is celebrated in the month of August, annually. It is a well-known certainty that happiness is transmissible and sharing one’s happiness can put a smile on an individual’s face. August is a month dedicated to recognizing things that bring happiness to oneself.

Extending this happiness to others can help make society a better place. Happiness can be found in the smallest of things and can really improve one’s mental health as well as their overall well-being.

How to Celebrate Happiness Happens Month:

  • Do Something Special

    • Do something special for a loved one in your life with something they love and surprise them.

  • Spend a Day with Yourself

    • Begin your day with thankfulness and do all the smallest things and activities that bring you happiness.

4 Facts About Happiness:

  1. Pets make you happy - When you have playful moments with pets, the brain releases dopamine that is well-known for stimulating happiness.

  2. Green Surroundings -  Greenery is known to enhance your life’s fulfillment.

  3. Exercise Regularly - Exercising makes you feel more self-assured and capable which helps with one’s stress and mental health.

  4. Trash Unhappy Thoughts - If you breathe and focus better, you will be able to trash unhappy thoughts and gain knowledge of finding the brighter side of everything.
