Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
In addition to the FERPA rules and regulations, Red Springs High School Guidance Department adheres to the following:
- Each counselor assures accuracy of the student cumulative folder to include transcript
- Each counselor maintains student cumulative folders in the records room located in the guidance department; (graduates and non-graduates).
- Acting counselor is responsible for final graduation reports.
- Students/Parents/Guardians can request transcripts to be picked-up or mailed by completing a transcript request form located in the guidance department.
