PEMBROKE — For Robeson Career and Technical Education Center Assistant Principal/Dean of Instruction Rodrick Bartley, leadership is ultimately measured by the difference it makes in the lives of students and educators.

Bartley brings nine years of experience in education to Robeson CTEC, including five years in school administration. He pursued administration because he wanted an opportunity to make an impact beyond a single classroom.

“I believe strong leadership is about supporting teachers, building relationships with students, creating opportunities, and ensuring every student has what they need to be successful,” Bartley said. “For me, administration is not about the title—it is about the impact.”

That mission takes on additional meaning for Bartley at Robeson CTEC, where students have opportunities to connect what they learn in the classroom with future careers.

“Here, students are not only earning credits—they are developing skills, earning industry-recognized credentials, exploring careers, and preparing for life after high school,” Bartley said.

As Assistant Principal/Dean of Instruction, Bartley looks forward to being visible throughout the center, developing relationships with students, supporting staff and helping foster a culture that encourages students to recognize their own potential.

“What excites me most about working with students at Robeson CTEC is seeing them discover their strengths, develop real-world skills, and prepare for their future,” Bartley said. “I am excited to watch students turn their interests and talents into opportunities for success.”

Bartley wants students to leave CTEC equipped with the skills, credentials, confidence and work ethic needed for whatever path they choose, including college, the workforce, military service or entrepreneurship. Just as importantly, he wants students to know they were supported along the way.

“Personally, I want students to leave knowing that someone believed in them, challenged them, and cared about their success,” Bartley said. “I want them to understand that mistakes do not define them, but how they respond to those mistakes does.”

Ultimately, Bartley sees the work taking place at Robeson CTEC as an investment in the future of the entire county.

“Robeson CTEC represents opportunity and a pathway to a successful future,” Bartley said. “It gives students the skills, credentials, and hands-on experiences they need to enter the workforce, continue their education, and ultimately become the skilled professionals and leaders who will help move Robeson County forward.”

Bartley said he is grateful for the opportunity to help build upon that mission.

“I am excited about what we are building here and look forward to supporting our students and staff as we continue to grow, improve, and create opportunities that prepare students for life beyond high school,” he said.
