PEMBROKE — For Robeson Career and Technical Education Center Computer Engineering Instructor Christian Chavis, technology and education come together with a common purpose: preparing students for successful futures.
Chavis brings six years of experience in his career field and two years of experience in education to Robeson CTEC. His reason for entering the classroom is simple.
“I love educating people about technology,” Chavis said.
At Robeson CTEC, Chavis has an opportunity to turn that passion into career preparation by helping students develop technical knowledge and skills they can carry into the workforce.
What excites him most about working with students is “getting them ready for the workforce and giving them a chance to succeed after high school.”
While Chavis is focused on helping students prepare professionally, he also wants them to develop the resilience needed to navigate challenges beyond the classroom.
“Adversity will always find its way into your life,” Chavis said. “What matters is not that it comes, but how you choose to respond.”
Through Computer Engineering and the career-focused opportunities available at Robeson CTEC, Chavis believes students can leave high school better equipped to transition into employment.
“After students leave our classrooms at CTEC, they will be certified and prepared for the workforce,” Chavis said.
