Enclosed are copies of the Long Branch School Scholarship Application for the 2020 – 2021 academic year.  This packet includes criteria, instructions and forms to be completed by the applicants.  Please note that financial information should be based on the 2020 income tax information.

 

Please ensure that any student applying for the scholarship for the

2020 - 2021 school year has attended at least one full year at Long Branch Elementary School.  The application and attachments should be mailed to the school address or they can be dropped off in the school office on or before the deadline of April 16, 2021.  Late applications will not be accepted.

Guidelines for Application

 

 

To the Applicant:

 

Each year, Long Branch Elementary School PTA awards a $1,000 scholarship payable to the recipient’s college, university or community college.  This is a one time, non-renewable scholarship.

 

This scholarship packet may be completed by any high school senior that attended at least one full year at Long Branch Elementary School and will graduate by May, 2021.  Below is an explanation of the program outlining the criteria for qualification of the scholarship.  Please follow all instructions and print or type all information.  Applications will not be considered without the applicant’s signature.  Please ensure that the additional material required is submitted with the application.  The deadline for submitting applications is April 16, 2021.  Applications that are incomplete or received after the deadline will not be considered.

 

Scholarship Criteria:

 

  • Applicant Qualifications
    • Applicant must have attended at least 1 full year at Long Branch Elementary School.
    • Applicant must be considered a full-time student.
    • Applicant has been accepted at an institute of higher learning and will graduate from high school May, 2021.
    • Applicant must currently be a high school senior.
  • Scholastic
    • Student’s grades are a considering factor when selecting applicant.  Transcripts and GPA should be submitted with the application.
    • SAT or ACT scores must be provided with the application.
  • Citizenship
    • Three written recommendations are required.  Recommendations are to be obtained from the following:
      • The Principal from the high school where the applicant attends.
      • Two current or past high school teachers.
  • Financial Need
    • Student’s financial need will be considered when selecting applicant.  Financial, Medical/disabilities and the number of taxable dependents will be considered.
    • Attach the FAFSA form to the application.  To obtain a copy of the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) go to the Financial Aid Website at fafsa.ed.gov.  There is no cost involved in submitting this form and all colleges are requiring that any student applying for financial aid must complete the form.  The FAFSA requires information from the federal income tax form submitted by the applicant’s parents.  Complete the form based on the Federal Income Tax Form 1040 for the 2020 tax year and mail it to the address shown on the FAFSA form.  Attach a copy of the FAFSA form to the Long Branch PTA Scholarship Application.  The committee will use information from this form to determine financial need.
