LUMBERTON, N.C. — Lumberton High School senior KaMya Foxworth successfully completed the National Youth Leadership Forum: Law & CSI – Investigate 2025 program in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
The weeklong program, hosted by WorldStrides, brought together high school students from across the country to explore careers in law and crime scene investigation.
According to the WorldStrides website, students “hear from subject-matter experts, gain invaluable hands-on experience, and be empowered to fully realize [their] potential.”
KaMya said the experience helped clarify her future goals in forensic science.
“My time at WorldStrides NYLF: Law and CSI was absolutely amazing,” she said. “I had the chance to make so many new connections and friendships with other students who shared my interests. The program really helped me solidify my career goals in forensic science, and I learned so much about the field. I would highly recommend this program to anyone considering a career in law or CSI.”
Foxworth plans to attend Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she will major in forensic pathology. A forensic pathologist is a medical doctor who often serves as the chief forensic scientist in criminal investigations.
The program was held July 5-12, 2025 at the University of Maryland. At the culmination of the program, students received two college credits from George Mason University.
Superintendent Dr. Freddie Williamson said the district is proud of KaMya’s participation in the program.
“We’re always excited to see our students take advantage of learning opportunities beyond the classroom,” said Dr. Williamson. “KaMya’s commitment to her goals is something we commend. We wish her continued success in her future endeavors.”
