Paxton/PattersonLab

LUMBERTON – The Public Schools of Robeson County has taken a bold step forward in preparing students for bright futures in careers and trades with the installation of three Paxton/Patterson Applied Learning Labs.

These labs are designed to ignite curiosity, inspire big dreams, and give students hands-on experiences that connect classroom learning to real-world skills. By rotating through a series of interactive modules, students will have the opportunity to explore diverse career pathways and discover passions that can shape their futures.

The modules installed include:

      Simulated Welding

      Plumbing

      Electrical

      Pneumatics

      Computer Graphics & Game Development

      CAD & Design

      Flight & Drone Technology

      Robotics

      Intro to Engineering & Design

      Home Maintenance Fundamentals

“These labs are more than just equipment and technology—they are investments in our students’ futures,” said PSRC Superintendent Dr. Freddie Williamson. “When students see that learning connects directly to the skills and careers they dream about, they stay engaged, excited, and motivated to succeed.”

Paxton/Patterson labs have been installed at Lumberton Junior High School, St. Pauls Middle School and Pembroke Middle School, expanding opportunities for students across the county.

This initiative not only builds a stronger educational pipeline but also strengthens the local workforce by equipping the next generation with critical skills and a love for learning.

“The Public Schools of Robeson County is committed to ensuring that students see themselves as the future—capable, creative, and prepared to lead,” Dr. Williamson said.

“Our students are the hope for tomorrow,” said PSRC CTE Director Herman Locklear. “These labs give them the tools to dream big, plan for success, and build the bright future they deserve.”
