LUMBERTON — The Public Schools of Robeson County school district is preparing for a major technology shift that will affect how it manages student data and enhance how it communicates with families in the 2025-2026 academic year. Over the summer of 2025, the district is transitioning from the former student information system (SIS), PowerSchool, to the Infinite Campus platform.
This transition is part of a statewide initiative led by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). The school district is participating in Phase Two of the implementation, joining many others across North Carolina who are embracing this change to improve educational data management.
Infinite Campus is a powerful and complex system that offers a broader range of features compared to PowerSchool. It will provide increased functionality for student scheduling, attendance tracking, grade reporting, parent communication, and more. However, with this increased capability comes added complexity — making it more important than ever that our student data is clean, accurate and complete.
“Our staff has been working diligently behind the scenes to ensure that the data from PowerSchool is accurately imported into Infinite Campus,” said PSRC Superintendent Dr. Freddie Williamson. “We recognize that with a transition of this scale, there may be some data inconsistencies and we are committed to identifying and resolving them quickly to ensure a smooth experience for students, parents and staff.”
Throughout the summer and into the new school year, the district will provide ongoing updates, training opportunities and user information to help introduce families to the new system and its capabilities. The Infinite Campus platform will allow parents and guardians to access student information through the web and mobile applications, where they can view grades, attendance, assignments, and school messages — all in real-time.
“We know change can be challenging,” said PSRC’s Infinite Campus Coordinator Angela Jones. “However, we want our families to know that we’re in this together. We’re here to support our community every step of the way.”
The Public Schools of Robeson County encourages all families to stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks about how to activate their Infinite Campus accounts and navigate the system's features.
