Great news! 📋 Your student brought home their preliminary EOG scores today. Take a moment to review the letters together—they include what proficiency looks like and how your student performed. These conversations matter! 💬
If you haven't already, please return the signed permission letter so your student can retake any assessments where they weren't quite proficient yet. 📝
Starting tomorrow, Thursday, June 4th, we're giving students a chance to show what they've learned! ✨ Testing begins bright and early, so please have your student here on time so we can get started promptly. This is their opportunity to reach proficiency! 🎯
The 2025–2026 Fairmont Middle School Art Exhibition, “Gallery of the Growing Minds,” was a tremendous success. We are proud of our student artists who showcased their unique perspectives, creativity, and artistic growth through a diverse collection of outstanding artworks.
This exhibition highlighted not only artistic skills but also the power of creativity, critical thinking, innovation, and self-expression. Every piece displayed reflected the hard work, dedication, and imagination of our students.
A heartfelt thank you to parents, families, community members, school administrators, and staff for supporting arts education and helping make this event memorable. Your encouragement inspires our students to continue dreaming, creating, and growing.
Congratulations to all of our young artists for sharing their talents and reminding us that creativity is one of the most powerful tools for shaping the future.
Today’s artists are tomorrow’s innovators, designers, architects, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
Thank you for being part of our journey and celebrating the extraordinary potential of our growing minds!

A letter regarding EOG assessment retake opportunities was sent home with students on Friday. If your student was not proficient on their initial assessment, they have the option to retake it but the letter must be returned to the school. Please sign and return the letter by Wednesday, June 3, 2026. If you did not receive the letter or have questions, contact the front office at (910)628-4363. Additional copies are available in the front office at FMS.

Elementary schools will dismiss between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Middle schools will dismiss between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.
High schools will dismiss between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.
Please plan accordingly for transportation and afternoon arrangements. If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact your child’s school directly.

Next week, testing continues for 5th and 8th grade science as well as 8th grade NC Math 1.
Following the testing period, students who did not pass their EOG tests will have the opportunity to participate in remediation and retesting. Regular attendance during this time is essential for students to achieve success.
A letter detailing the retesting process is being sent home with students today. To allow your student to participate in retesting, please complete the form by providing your student's full name and grade level, checking the box to authorize participation, and printing & signing your name. Please return completed forms promptly so your student can be included in the retesting schedule.

Thank you for your continued support as we move through our end-of-grade assessment period.
All fifth through eighth grade students will take their Reading EOG tomorrow, Friday, May 29, 2026, followed by the Science EOG on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, for fifth and eighth grade students only.
Attendance and punctuality are essential during these testing days. Students who did not pass previous assessments have the opportunity to retake them, and those needing additional support will receive remediation.
Once testing begins, we are unable to admit students who arrive late or process early dismissals. Research shows that students perform best when testing occurs during regularly scheduled morning sessions rather than during make-up times.
We ask that all families ensure their student arrives on time and remains at school for the full day. Your partnership in supporting consistent attendance during these assessment days makes a meaningful difference in student success.

Date: 2nd, June, 2026
Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Our end-of-grade assessments are approaching. Fifth through seventh grade students will begin Math EOG testing on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, followed by Reading EOG for fifth through eighth grade on Friday, May 29, 2026.
To support student success, we ask that all students arrive on time and remain at school for the full day. Once a testing session begins, we cannot admit students who arrive late or allow early dismissals. Research indicates that students perform optimally when testing occurs early in the day during regularly scheduled sessions rather than during make-up times.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring your student is present and punctual on these important assessment days.

To be eligible for this award, students must be enrolled in grades 6-12.
Students must earn A’s (90-100) for every class in their current grade.

Testing on these days will last a minimum of two hours from the time it begins; we cannot interrupt testing to pull a child from class.
