November Mental Health Minute: Gentle Gratitude
November is often called a season of gratitude but it can also be a season of more ... more events, more expectations, more pressure, and sometimes more feelings that we don’t quite know what to do with. As the days get shorter and the to-do lists get longer, it’s important to remember that your mental health matters just as much as everything (and everyone) you’re taking care of.
This month, try focusing on gentle gratitude, not the forced “be thankful no matter what,” but a slower, kinder noticing of what’s going well and what you need. Gratitude and honesty can coexist. You’re allowed to be thankful and tired. Grateful and overwhelmed. Proud of your work and in need of rest.
A few simple November check-ins:
~ Check-in with your body: are you sleeping, eating, and moving in ways that actually fuel you?
~ Check-in with your mind: what’s one worry you can put down today, even for a little while?
~ Check-in with your people: who can you text, call, or smile at today? Just to remind both of you that you are not alone.
~ Check-in with your boundaries: it is okay to say “no” or “not at this time” to protect your energy.
If this season feels heavier than usual, please reach out...to a colleague, a friend, a family member, or a mental health professional. Asking for help is not a weakness; it’s one of the strongest, bravest steps you can take.
