Estimados padres de familia, La Escuela Primaria Piney Grove hace la cordial invitación al gran evento de STEAM Familiar para estuantes de inglés que tendrá lugar en UNCP (Universidad de Carolina del Norte en Pembroke). ¿Qué es STEAM? STEAM es un enfoque educativo que involucra las Ciencias, Tecnología, Ingeniería, Arte y Matemáticas. Este evento será completamente GRATUITO para los estudiantes de inglés y sus familias. ¿De qué se trata? Básicamente, durante esta actividad, nuestros estudiantes de inglés y sus padres aprenderán juntos a través de actividades prácticas relacionadas con aplicaciones prácticas y resolución de problemas del mundo real. Después de la sesión, los estudiantes llevarán a casa actividades de aprendizaje para continuar practicando y aplicando los conocimientos adquiridos en casa. ¿Por qué es importante? Este tipo de actividades permitirá a nuestros Estudiantes de Inglés conectar el currículo que están aprendiendo con el mundo real de una manera divertida y ellos podrán disfruta de su compañía. Dear ESL families, Piney Grove Elementary extends a cordial invitation to the event “Family Steam & Innovation and Invention for PSRC English Learners” at UNCP. What is STEAM? STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, and it will be a completely FREE event for English Learners and their families. What is it about? Basically, during this activity, our English Learners and their parents will learn together through hands-on activities related to practical applications and real- world problem solving. After the session, students will be taking home learning activities to continue to practice and apply the acquired knowledge at home. Why is it important? This kind of activities will allow our English Learners to connect the curriculum they are learning with the real world through a fun way and with the company of their loved ones as a plus. Besides, YOU, as a parent, will have the opportunity to get involve in your child educational process. When will it be? The event will take place on Saturday April 9th, 2022, from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at UNCP in Pembroke. Writing and Art Competition On March 24th, 2022 We will be having a Writing and Art Competition at the Indian Education Department. All entries must pertain to Native American Culture. Students in grades 1st - 6th will compete in the Art categories. Only 5th -6th grade will compete in Writing categories as well as the Art categories. Students interested please see Ms. Hill in Villa 5 for an entry form. All artwork and writing compositions along with entry forms must be turned into me by March 21st. GRADE DIVISIONS: Entries will be judged in three grade divisions • Youth—Grades 1-3 • Tween—Grades 4-8 • Junior—Grades 9-12 ART CATEGORIES: There are six (6) categories under each grade division • Basketry • Traditional Arts • Carving • Pottery • Beading/Jewelry Making Drawings/Paintings ELIGIBILITY OF ENTRIES: • Students must have an ED506 form on file with PSRC Indian Education • Entries must be the artist’s original work—no copies. • Artist is limited to one entry per category. • No molds or kits will be accepted. • No copyrighted images can be used in artwork. • Only individual projects will be accepted.
