DEMAYO LAW OFFICES AWARDING IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING SENIORS

The annual Michael A. DeMayo Arrive Alive® Scholarship Program is an exciting opportunity for local high school seniors to have a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship toward their college education. The deadline for submission is Monday, March 27, 2023. The Scholarship Application will also be mailed to local area high schools that are eligible to participate.

The firm will be awarding a total of $37,500 in college scholarships to 15 high school seniors who reside and attend schools in counties served by the firm, including: Mecklenburg, Gaston, Catawba, Union (NC), Cabarrus, Cleveland, Lincoln, Rowan, Caldwell, Stanly, Iredell, Alexander, Burke, Robeson, Scotland, Richmond, Anson, Cumberland, York, Lancaster, Chester, Union (SC), Cherokee, Chesterfield, Marlboro, and Dillon.

When the scholarship program initially began in 2003, the personal injury law firm awarded five $1,000 scholarships to Mecklenburg County seniors who wrote essays on how the community could help curb underage drinking and driving.

Over the past 21 years, the scholarship program at DeMayo Law Offices has grown. The program now includes 15 winners, across 26 counties, each who receive a $2,500 scholarship. Over the years, DeMayo Law Offices has awarded over $700,000 in scholarships to high school seniors in our community.

“At DeMayo Law Offices we see the devastation of distracted and drunk driving on an almost daily basis. By raising awareness amongst our youth, it is our hope that we can make a positive impact in our community and save a few lives in the process,” according to Michael A. DeMayo.

To qualify, students must have applied for full-time enrollment at a four-year university or college and must complete and return a scholarship application to DeMayo Law Offices by the announced deadline. Scholarships will be awarded based on the student’s essay, brochure, billboard or TikTok video, as well as their application, SAT scores, transcripts, and letters of recommendation. Students are asked to submit their presentations and all related documents by mailing their completed applications to the address provided. Winners will be chosen by a selection committee.

DeMayo Law Offices has offices in Charlotte, Hickory, Monroe, and Columbia with practices in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, traumatic brain injuries, nursing home negligence, and Social Security disability.
