PSRC Board of Education District 6 Seat Vacancy Announcement: Applications Are Open

Effective October 10, 2023, a vacancy was created on the non-partisan Public Schools of Robeson County Board of Education by the resignation of District 6 representative Mike Smith.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the vacated seat, candidates must live in Robeson County Board of Education District 6, and are eligible without regard to political party.  The Robeson County Board of Education is non-partisan. Appointment to the seat will be for the remainder of the current election cycle and will expire when a Board member is elected and qualified to fill the remainder of the District 6 term in March of 2024.

How to apply

 Eligible citizens who reside in District 6 who are interested in serving on the Board of Education should submit:

  • A completed application which is available from the school board office listed below or online;
  • Proof of residency in Public Schools of Robeson County Board of Education District 6 (e.g., driver’s license, voter registration card, current utility bill, etc.);
  • A letter of interest, no more than three (3) pages, outlining the candidate’s background and listing three strategies for advancing the Board’s Strategic Plan, which is available at the school board office listed below and online at: https://www.robeson.k12.nc.us/page/strategic-plan
  • A resumé; and
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation from residents of District 6.
