LUMBERTON — Multiple PSRC schools recently received a visit from the 2023 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Sandhills Region Teacher of the Year.

Teena Robinson, who serves as an elementary AIG educator in Richmond County Schools, visited three schools in her role as the 2023 BWF Sandhills Region Teacher of the Year on Thursday.

During her visits, she spoke with principals and educators about learning strategies and educational programs in place to support student success. She even answered questions from Pembroke Elementary students about her role as the 2023 BWF Sandhills Region Teacher of the Year and her goals to support and advocate for educators across the region.

“I am so excited to see all the great things happening in Robeson County Schools!” she said.

“One of the components of my role as a regional teacher of the year is visiting schools across the Sandhills to learn about great educational practices and programs in our region. I want to shine a positive light on our schools and educators and be a voice and advocate for educators in the Sandhills Region,” she said in a statement.

Robinson visited Rowland-Norment Elementary, Littlefield Middle and Pembroke Elementary schools on Thursday ahead of her presentation to prospective educators at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

“We were elated to invite Ms. Teena into our schools, show her our programs and introduce her to individuals who make our schools great,” said PSRC Chief Communications Officer Jessica Sealey.

“We all have a role in the education of our students and we are blessed to have a team of committed educators across our district who live out their passion and calling each day to educate and inspire our youth. Thank you, Ms. Teena, for your professionalism and for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit us today,” Sealey said in a statement.
