LUMBERTON — The Public Schools of Robeson County proudly recognized its January 2026 Impact Award recipients during the January 13, 2026 Board of Education meeting, honoring two exceptional employees whose dedication and service exemplify the district’s motto, “One Team, One Goal.”
“The Impact Awards celebrate certified and classified employees who go above and beyond to create supportive, thriving school environments for students, staff, and families,” said Mr. Jamal Campbell, PSRC Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
The district extends its sincere appreciation to Cakes and Pastries of Lumberton for sponsoring this month’s gift cards and to Mr. Brandon Ventura and Sign City for generously sponsoring the award plaques.
Certified Employee Impact Award
The district proudly honored Mr. Ricardo Navarrete, Band and Music Teacher at Orrum Middle School, as the January 2026 Certified Impact Award recipient.
“As the band teacher and Digital Teaching and Learning Technology Coach, Mr. Navarrete truly embodies the spirit of One Team, One Goal. He willingly steps in to help in any capacity when needed and consistently supports both scholars and staff. His positive attitude, flexibility, and teamwork make him an invaluable member of our school community and a role model for collaboration,”said Orrum Middle School Principal Ms. Katasha Oxendine.
The Public Schools of Robeson County celebrates Mr. Navarrete for the powerful difference he makes each day in the lives of his students, colleagues, and school community.
Classified Employee Impact Award
The district also proudly recognizes Ms. Christy Ward, Secretary and Bookkeeper at Parkton Elementary School, as the January 2026 Classified Impact Award recipient.
“Ms. Christy has devoted 36 years to the Public Schools of Robeson County, including 26 years at Parkton Elementary, where she is both a proud alumna and an indispensable member of the school community,” said Parkton Elementary School Principal Ms. Christine Trasente.
“As secretary and bookkeeper, she goes far beyond her official duties—serving as the heart of the school by supporting daily operations, assisting students and staff, and preserving Parkton’s history and spirit. Her adaptability and commitment to growth demonstrate her ability to thrive in changing environments, continuously enhance her skills, and contribute positively to the overall efficiency and professionalism of the office. Deeply respected, Ms. Christy embodies loyalty, professionalism, and a lifelong dedication to Parkton Elementary and its community,” Principal Trasente added.
The Public Schools of Robeson County celebrates and honors Ms. Ward for the powerful and lasting impact she continues to make each day.
