LUMBERTON — The Public Schools of Robeson County proudly recognized its February 2026 Impact Award recipients during the February 10 PSRC Board of Education meeting.
“The Impact Awards honor certified and classified employees whose dedication and commitment go above and beyond, strengthening school communities and creating environments where students, staff, and families flourish,” said Mr. Jamal Campbell, PSRC Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
The district extends its sincere appreciation to Cakes and Pastries of Lumberton for sponsoring this month’s gift cards and to Mr. Brandon Ventura and Sign City for generously sponsoring the award plaques.
Certified Impact Award Recipient Candace Grimsley
The district proudly recognizes Candace Grimsley, Agriculture Teacher at Lumberton High School, as the February Certified Impact Award recipient.
“Ms. Grimsley has created a powerful bridge between the classroom and the community. By connecting students with local farmers, businesses, and civic leaders, she gives learning real-world meaning and cultivates service-minded young leaders dedicated to community growth,” said LHS Principal Larry Brooks.
“Through her guidance in the Future Farmers of America program, Ms. Candace empowers students to lead with confidence, integrity, and purpose—equipping them with the skills and values to make a lasting impact in their school, community, and the agricultural industry,” Brooks added.

Classified Impact Award Recipient Valerie Sweat
The district proudly honors Valerie Swett, Secretary/Bookkeeper at PSRC Early College High School, as the district’s February Classified Impact Award recipient.
“Ms. Swett exemplifies excellence in her role as secretary and bookkeeper, demonstrating exceptional organization, accuracy, and professionalism,” said ECHS Principal Andrew Davis.
“Her reliability and attention to detail keep school operations running smoothly while her positive attitude and kindness create a welcoming environment for all. Balancing efficiency with genuine care, she strengthens relationships across the school and embodies the spirit of service and teamwork that defines true excellence,” Davis said.
