LUMBERTON — The Public Schools of Robeson County honored its March Impact Award winners during the March 10, 2026 PSRC Board of Education meeting.
“These individuals work collaboratively to cultivate a supportive and thriving school environment,” said Jamal Campbell, PSRC Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
The district extends gratitude to Mr. Austin Jacobs and Chick-fil-A for sponsoring this month’s gift cards and to Mr. Brandon Ventura and Sign City for sponsoring plaques.
Certified Employee: Mary Watson
The district proudly recognized Mary Watson, a third grade teacher at Rowland-Norment Elementary School, as the March Certified Impact Award recipient.
“Ms. Watson demonstrates exceptional leadership, professionalism, and commitment to student success. Beyond her excellence in the classroom, she serves as Grade Level Chair, School Improvement Team representative, and Digital Teaching and Learning Coach. In all roles, she fosters collaboration, data-driven instruction, and schoolwide improvement,” said RNES Principal Dr. Joanna Cole.
“Ms. Watson strengthens team morale, promotes innovation through effective technology integration, and models integrity, enthusiasm, and high expectations that positively influence both student outcomes and staff performance,” she added.
PSRC celebrates Watson for her commitment to student success and the powerful difference she makes each day in the lives of her students, colleagues and school community.
Classified Employee: Marilyn Sanderson
The district proudly recognized School Nurse Marilyn Sanderson, who serves Rowland-Norment Elementary and Littlefield Middle schools, as the March Classified Award recipient.
Dr. Cole praised Sanderson for her “outstanding service, mentorship, and compassionate care across multiple schools in the PSRC district.”
“Beyond her clinical duties, she has trained and guided other nurses, modeled professionalism and ethical practice, and consistently upheld high standards. Known for her calm, dependable presence and dedication—even beyond work hours—Nurse Sanderson is celebrated for her lasting impact on students, staff, and the broader school community,” Dr. Cole added.
The district celebrates and honors Sanderson for her compassion, servant leadership and her commitment to student health, which helps drive success in the classroom.
