THOMASVILLE — Purnell Swett High School students brought home top awards from the Jobs for North Carolina's Graduates (JNCG) Career Development Competition held recently at Davidson-Davie Community College.
The PSHS team took second place in the Business Plan Category (Wicca Tubalado and Miranda Olivar) and third place in the Financial Literacy Category (Khimora Mcdougald).
Kendall Morrison, Jobs for North Carolina Graduates College and Career Specialist at Purnell Swett High School, shared words of excitement for students’ achievements.
“The students worked extremely hard preparing for these events, and it was great to see their efforts recognized at the competition,” he said.
The competition provided students with an opportunity to showcase the skills and competencies they have developed throughout the school year. The event included presentations, demonstrations of career readiness skills, and applied learning experiences aligned with workforce and postsecondary expectations.
“This achievement reflects their dedication, teamwork, and the strong support system we have here at Purnell Swett. We are very proud of how well they represented our school,” Morrison added.
PSRC Superintendent Dr. Freddie WIlliamson also shared congratulatory remarks.
“On behalf of the Public Schools of Robeson County, I would like to congratulate these outstanding students for their excellence and commitment on display at the competition,” Dr. Williamson said.
“Events like the Jobs for North Carolina Graduates Career Development Competition provide a platform for students to showcase their skills, represent their school and district with pride, and reflect the impact of the dedicated teachers who prepare them to be Robeson Future Ready,” Dr. Williamson added.
