RED SPRINGS — Students from across the Public Schools of Robeson County gathered at Red Springs High School for an exciting day of innovation, teamwork and hands-on learning during the district’s Robotics Competition and Expo.
The recent event brought together elementary, middle and high school robotics teams to showcase their skills in design, programming and problem-solving, while also engaging the community in interactive STEM experiences.
Throughout the competition, student teams demonstrated creativity, collaboration and perseverance as they competed in both the Explore and Challenge divisions.

A special recognition was presented to Ms. Ziena Walker, who received the Coach’s Award for her dedication, leadership and commitment to student success in robotics.
Hands-On Learning & Community Engagement
In addition to the competition, the Expo portion of the event provided students and families with opportunities to explore STEM in action.
“A highlight of the day was the interactive STEM table, where participants built and tested slime, straw rockets and Mars helicopters—sparking curiosity and excitement for engineering and design.,” said PSRC Science Supervisor Susan Miller-Hendrix.
Students also had the opportunity to experience advanced robotics demonstrations thanks to teams from Robeson Early College High School and Lumberton High School, who brought their robots to showcase for younger students. These demonstrations provided a powerful glimpse into future opportunities in robotics and career pathways in STEM fields.
