LUMBERTON — The Public Schools of Robeson County honored its May Impact Award winners during the May 12, 2026 PSRC Board of Education meeting. 

“Our recipients exemplify our district's ‘One Team, One Goal’ motto; these individuals work collaboratively to cultivate a supportive and thriving school environment. As a district, we celebrate and honor these individuals for the powerful difference they make each day,” said Jamal Campbell, PSRC Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.

Certified Employee: Laurent Saint Pierre

The district proudly recognizes Laurent Saint Pierre, Math Teacher at Red Springs High School, as the district’s Certified Impact Award recipient for the month of May. 

Red Springs High School Principal Steven Sinclair shared words of praise for Saint Pierre’s impact at the school.

“Mr. Laurent Saint Pierre is an outstanding math teacher at Red Springs High School whose impact reaches both students and staff. He builds strong relationships that foster student confidence and achievement, while also providing additional support through tutoring beyond school hours. As Math Department Chair, he demonstrates collaborative leadership, supports his colleagues, and promotes a positive team culture. His dedication and service make him highly deserving of the district’s Impact Award,” Principal Sinclair said. 

Classified Employee: Karina Zarate

PSRC proudly honors Karina Zarate, secretary at Red Springs High School, as the district’s May Classified Impact Award recipient.

Principal Sinclair said that Zarate “consistently demonstrates professionalism, warmth, and a genuine commitment to students, staff, and families.”

Zarate’s impact extends beyond the school day as she steps into another role, supporting student-athletes as their soccer coach, Sinclair said. 

“She creates a welcoming environment, builds strong relationships, and ensures everyone feels valued. In addition to her front office role, she goes above and beyond by coaching Girls Soccer and supporting school initiatives, truly exemplifying the ‘One Team, One Goal’ spirit and making a lasting impact on her school community,” Sinclair said. 

District Employees: Erica Setzer and Cole Wilkins

The district also recognizes Chief Finance Officer Erica Setzer and District Technology Specialist Jared Cole Wilkins as Central Office Impact Award recipients.

Campbell praised Setzer for her diligence and dedication to the role.

“Her professionalism, kindness, and unwavering commitment to excellence set a standard for us all. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure our financial records are accurate, transparent, and well-managed, while keeping district leaders informed and prepared. Her ability to thoughtfully answer any question and her warm, approachable demeanor make her an invaluable asset to our team,” Campbell said. 

Wilkins was also celebrated for the many ways he supports technology at the district level including support given during school board meeting livestreams.

“His consistent presence at board meetings and committee sessions ensures that all technology needs are seamlessly supported. Always ready to assist, he approaches every request with professionalism and a welcoming attitude,” Campbell said.
