LUMBERTON — As the school year enters its final stretch, the Public Schools of Robeson County is encouraging students across the district to give their very best effort during upcoming end-of-year assessments.
End-of-year testing will begin soon across the district, with some assessments potentially starting as early as the end of this week based on school and student needs. Parents and guardians will receive notification letters with important testing information, including dates and details specific to their child’s school.
The NC End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments for Math, Reading, and Science in grades K–8 are also scheduled from May 27 through June 9, 2026. In addition, the Grade 3 Read to Achieve Test is scheduled for June 2, 2026. NC End-of-Course (EOC) assessments for high school students are scheduled to take place from June 3 through June 9, 2026.
Testing season provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout the school year. District leaders are reminding students and families that preparation, confidence and perseverance can make a meaningful difference.
“End-of-year assessments are an opportunity for students to showcase their hard work and growth throughout the year,” said Dr. Windy Dorsey-Carr, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Accountability. “We encourage every student to stay focused, believe in themselves, and finish the school year strong. We are proud of the effort our students and staff have put in all year long.”
PSRC encourages students to remember the following testing tips:
Show what you know.
Try your best.
Never leave an answer blank.
If you don’t know the answer to a question, skip it and come back to it.
Get a good night’s rest before the test.
Eat a healthy, balanced breakfast before the test.
PSRC encourages families to help students prepare by ensuring they arrive at school on time, get adequate rest, and maintain positive routines throughout the testing period.
“Students, confidence is your superpower,” said Dr. Debra Dowless, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “You already have everything you need to succeed. Trust what you have learned, stay focused, and do your very best on each test. We believe in you and are cheering you on every step of the way.”
