MAXTON – The Purnell Swett High School FFA Chapter was recognized for its outstanding achievements at the North Carolina FFA State Convention held in June, earning National Chapter Gold Tier status and celebrating the accomplishments of several student members.
The National Chapter Gold Tier designation is one of FFA's highest honors, recognizing chapters that demonstrate excellence in growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture through impactful programming and member engagement.
Purnell Swett High School FFA students showcased their talents and dedication through a variety of competitive events and recognitions during the convention.
Jarim Delgado Arreaga earned fourth place in North Carolina in the Spanish Creed Speaking Career Development Event.
Everlie Brayboy and Rakayla Locklear represented the chapter in the Agriscience Fair, presenting their research project at the state level.
Cornelia Oxendine received the North Carolina FFA State Degree, one of the organization's highest honors awarded to members who demonstrate significant accomplishments in agricultural education and leadership.
The chapter also competed in the Agricultural Tool Identification Career Development Event.
"We are incredibly proud of our students and their accomplishments," said Purnell Swett High School FFA Adviser Taleek Harlee. "Their hard work, leadership, and commitment to agricultural education are evident in the way they represented our school, chapter, and community throughout the state convention."
The recognition reflects the collective efforts of Purnell Swett High School FFA members, officers, advisors, supporters, and community partners who continue to foster opportunities for student growth and success.
