PEMBROKE — Deep Branch Elementary Bulldogs are setting their sights high this school year as students and staff prepare to climb toward new levels of success—one step at a time.
With a schoolwide theme of “Climbing Mountains One Step at a Time,” Deep Branch Elementary is entering the new year with a focus on reaching new heights while creating a safe, welcoming and engaging environment where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.
Principal Martha Locklear said the theme represents the school’s determination to build upon its progress and reach milestones that were beyond its grasp last year.
“This theme is based on reaching new heights this school year that we did not reach last year,” Locklear said.
At Deep Branch Elementary, that climb will be grounded in high expectations and the school’s core values of respect, responsibility, excellence and safety.
Faculty and staff will continue strengthening instruction through intentional planning, collaboration and continuous Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). At the same time, students will be encouraged to take greater responsibility for their learning as they work toward their own academic and personal goals.
But reaching the summit will take more than academic growth. Building meaningful relationships between students and teachers will remain an important part of the journey.
“At Deep Branch Elementary, every student deserves to be inspired, encouraged, and empowered,” Locklear said.
