Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Countywide Registration Procedure

Welcome to the Public Schools of Robeson County. The following information will guide you through enrolling your child as a new kindergarten student in our school district. We look forward to working with you and your child throughout their education. The window for 2023 Kindergarten Registration will begin March 20, 2023 and end March 31, 2023. More details are available below.

    • Proof of Residency - (2) Proof of residency to include a signed lease agreement, utility bill (gas, water, internet, or electric) in your name, rental receipt, current listing on income tax forms, personal property tax listings.
    • Proof of Age - child’s certified birth certificate or other documented proof of age (Examples: certified birth certificate; or a certified religious record which shows your date of birth and was recorded before age 5. Other Examples: If you cannot obtain the preferred evidence of your child’s age, you will be asked for other convincing evidence that shows the date of birth or age at a certain time such as: school records; a certified statement signed by the physician or midwife who was present at your birth; insurance policies; a passport; a delayed birth certificate, or an immigration or naturalization record.)
    • Immunization Record - must meet NC immunization requirements and the Board of Education's immunization policy. NC Law requires Kindergarten students to have an up to date immunization record and completed Health Assessment. For the required immunizations for kindergarten entry please visit https://immunize.nc.gov/schools/pdf/k_school_vaccine.pdf
    • The required Health Assessment form can be obtained from the school office or by visiting NC Health Transmittal Form (The form should be completed during the time of your child’s wellness visit. Submit the completed form within the first 30 days of school.)
    • Contact your elementary school in your district to pick up an enrollment packet and obtain a date to finalize the registration process at the school.

Age is generally the only criterion for children entering kindergarten. Students must be five years old on or before August 31. Although there is no other requirement for entering kindergarten, here are some common expectations for new students, according to the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. It is important for parents or guardians to choose the school that serves their address to register their children. Need to confirm your child's school? Call PSRC Transportation (910) 739-4743.
