This message is for our Pre-K families only. Please remember there will be NO SCHOOL for Pre-K students next week, Monday, April 29th - Thursday, May 2nd due to Pre-K screenings for upcoming students. All Pre-K students should return to school on Monday, May 6th. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the appropriate school personnel. Thank you.
Tutoring is canceled for tomorrow, April 23rd. If your child normally stays for tutoring on Tuesdays, please make alternate arrangements for them. Thank you.

Fifth grade students enjoyed a field trip to WonderWorks, a science-focused indoor amusement park in Myrtle Beach, SC. We love to see our students having fun outside of the classroom.
As we prepare for another wonderful week at school, please note the following:
* It is Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week. Show some love to our afterschool workers, Ms. Carolyn Moody and Ms. Othella Locklear.
* It is National Volunteer Recognition Week. Thank you to the countless volunteers who help make Union Chapel a great place to learn.
* National Administrative Professionals Day is Wednesday, April 24th. Show some love to our administrative assistant, Ms. Sonja Watson, and to our bookkeeper, data manager, and payroll clerk, Mrs. Ciara Hunt. These women do a wonderful job working behind the scenes to keep things organized and running efficiently.
* Progress reports will be passed out at Parent/Teacher conferences this Thursday, April 25th from 3:30 - 6:00. We look forward to seeing everyone Thursday evening.

May Day is scheduled for Friday, May 10th at 9:00 a.m. T-shirts are being sold to wear on May Day. All t-shirt order forms and money are due tomorrow. If you have misplaced your child's form, simply turn in your child's name, size, and money to their teacher. Thank you.

I've been trying to get a picture, but this lady refuses! Nevertheless, we cannot let the week slip by without telling our assistant principal, Mrs. Beth Pittman, how much we appreciate her for all she does to make Union Chapel a great place to learn and work. It is School Librarian Appreciation Day. From helping kids fall in love with reading to organizing the annual book fair, Mrs. Carrie Bullard keeps our school library in working order. She spends long hours keeping the library organized and is the person who creates an environment where students can learn every day of the year. We appreciate our school librarian, Mrs. Carrie Bullard.

This is for the parents who have students who ride bus 49, Mrs. Darlene Chavis's bus. Bus 49 will be a second load today. The students who ride this bus will be dropped off later than usual. I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and you are ready to return to school tomorrow. As we prepare for another wonderful week at school, please make note of the following:
* All Pre-K applications are due tomorrow. If you know a child who may be eligible for the Pre-K program, please make their family aware of tomorrow's deadline.
* It is National Assistant Principals Week. Show some love to our assistant principal, Mrs. Beth Pittman, and let her know how much we appreciate all she does for the students and staff at our school.
* Wednesday is Paraprofessional Appreciation Day. Show some love to all of our teacher assistants for all they do to support our teachers and help our students daily.
* Thursday is National School Librarian Appreciation Day. Show some love to our school librarian, Mrs. Carrie Bullard for keeping our library organized and running smoothly.
This list goes to show that it takes a grand team working together to keep our school moving in the right direction to ensure the success of our students.

Our second graders have enjoyed learning how we get the fruits, flowers, and vegetables we enjoy. The students also learned about pollinators and which fruits and flowers they get pollen and nectar from. Last week, the students got to plant a variety of fruits and flowers in our school flower beds. We appreciate these students for helping to make our school a beautiful place to learn.
