Happy Mother's Day to all of our Tiger Moms and Grandmothers! Have a wonderful day!

I want to sincerely apologize for accidentally leaving out two very important sponsors in my original post for Teacher Appreciation Week. A huge thank you to Belinda Mauney and Victoria Smith-Strickland for providing a delicious breakfast for our staff! Your kindness and generosity were truly appreciated by everyone, and I regret the oversight in not recognizing you earlier.
We are so grateful for all of our supporters who made the week special—it wouldn't have been the same without each and every one of you!

On behalf of the Union Chapel teachers and teacher assistants, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our administrators, community stakeholders, and everyone involved in planning for Teacher Appreciation Week. Everything was truly appreciated!
A special thank you to our generous sponsors: County Commissioner Mrs. Judy Sampson, PSRC Board Member Mr. Terry Blake Locklear, Pembroke Waste Collections, UCES PTO, McNeill's Concession, Pittman's Outdoor Pest Control, Union Chapel Community Baptist Church, and Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church.
Thank you all for making our teachers and staff feel so valued and supported!

This message is for students who ride Bus 195 (Mr. Gen’s bus). Due to mechanical issues, the bus will be delayed this afternoon. Students on this route will be arriving home later than usual. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

We continue with Day 5 of Teacher Appreciation Week. This is the last day we will highlight a group of teachers, assistants, and support personnel. We have an awesome group of instructional leaders and we want to celebrate them for all they do to make Union Chapel School a great place to learn!
Here's to our Exceptional Children's department, resource teachers and our support staff.
Our Exceptional Children's teachers and assistants blend the roles of educator, case manager, advocate, and specialist. They must tailor everything they do to meet each child where they are and help them thrive. They design and deliver highly individualized instruction based on each student’s Individualized Education Program, work with students who have a wide range of disabilities, and work with smaller groups or one-on-one, allowing for intensive support. That's a lot to juggle, but they do it effortlessly.
I think it's safe to say that resource teachers get all the love. Their classes offer a much-needed break from academics and allow the students to focus on their creative side in art and music and they can let off some steam in PE. These teachers are unique in that they get to work with every single student on our campus. That's a lot of names and personalities to remember. We commend these teachers for a job well done.
Our support staff works with special populations in our school. They are not in a regular classroom; usually, these teachers and assistants pull small groups of students to work with. They are the ones who have the flexibility to help out all over campus whenever an emergency arises or a vacancy occurs. We appreciate this group for being able to work under various working conditions throughout the day.
We cannot thank these staff members enough for the hard work they put into ensuring the success of their students. Take a bow!

Spreading Kindness: Better World Week in Action
Academic Coach Darline Scott recently took part in Better World Week through EL Education, securing a $300 stipend to make a meaningful impact. With the funds, the school created thoughtful care packages to share with the local community.
Joined by the 5th Grade Beta Club and Guidance Counselor Cindy Chavis, Coach Scott led a heartwarming visit to Genesis Healthcare in Pembroke. Students delivered the care packages to residents and brought along plenty of smiles and good conversation.
The residents were thrilled to receive the gifts, but it was the students' presence and kindness that truly made their day. It was a beautiful reminder that small acts of care can create a better world, one connection at a time.

We continue with Day 4 of Teacher Appreciation Week. Each day we will highlight a group of teachers and teacher assistants. We have an awesome group of instructional leaders and we want to celebrate them for all they do to make Union Chapel School a great place to learn!
Here's to our fifth and sixth grade teachers. Whoa, boy! You want to know why these teachers are Super Heroes? Because they are so close to teaching middle schoolers it isn't even funny. And middle school teachers deserve their own special place in heaven. Teaching fifth and sixth grade is like trying to nail Jell-O to a wall; it’s slippery, unpredictable, and just when you think you’ve got it figured out, everything shifts. It is full of ups and downs, unexpected twists, and a lot of screaming (sometimes the teachers, sometimes the students).
But we appreciate these individuals more than they will ever comprehend for doing it all so seamlessly. We cannot thank these teachers enough for the hard work they put into ensuring the success of their students. Take a bow, teachers!
