National Beta Club is an academic honors program with a strong emphasis on community service. Their motto is "Let Us Lead by Serving Others."
Our Beta Club members participated in the Union Chapel Community's Make a Difference Day by spreading the message that Union Chapel Elementary School believes that all students should live a drug-free life and that no child ever deserves to be bullied. We appreciate these students for being visible, not only in our school but also in our community.

Today our students were treated to a guest speaker, Ms. Mari Melecio, the owner of several Melecio's Mexican Restaurants located throughout Robeson County and North Carolina. Ms. Mari gave an inspirational speech to the students and staff about her journey to America; from speaking no English to working her way up to become the successful businesswoman she is today. We would like to thank Ms. Melecio for coming to our school and offering such encouraging words to our students.

Life needs more hayrides. Ensure your child can participate in our Fall Hayride next Thursday, October 26th by sending in $2.00. Flyers are going home today, so check those backpacks. I would "HAY-T" for them to miss out on all this fall fun!

Today was UNITY Day. We wore orange, the TIGERS' favorite color, to unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Wearing orange today sent a visible message that Union Chapel believes no child should ever experience bullying. Thank you to everyone who participated. #UnityEveryDay

This is a reminder that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Tomorrow, we encourage all students and staff to wear pink to honor breast cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and support the progress being made to defeat breast cancer. Let's paint Chapel pink!
Also, pictures taken at Grandparents' Breakfast were sent home today. If a picture was taken, please make sure you get it from your child and share it with their grandparent(s).
