Good evening Union Chapel family! As we prepare for another wonderful week at school, please note the following:
* Title 1 Parent Night is Tuesday, April 30th from 5:30 - 6:30. We encourage all parents to attend to meet the teachers on next year's grade level and discuss ways you can help your child start a new school year on the right foot.
* School Principals' Day is Wednesday, May 1st. Help us recognize our wonderful principal, Mr. Antonio Wilkins for all he does to make Union Chapel School a great place to learn.
* School Lunch Hero Day is Friday, May 3rd. Show your love to our school nutrition professionals who make sure our students are fueled with healthy food choices so they can be successful in school.
* There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, May 3rd due to a teacher workday. Please make the necessary arrangements for your child.

ATTENTION SIXTH GRADE PARENTS!!!
Students entering 7th grade are required to have one dose ofTdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine for individuals who have not already received those vaccines.
Please contact your healthcare provider or local health department if your child needs these vaccines. You will have 30 calendar days from the first day of school to provide the required up-to-date immunization record for your child. If proof of vaccination is not provided by the end of the 30 calendar day period, your child will be suspended from school until they provide proof of immunization as required by law. Please remember you will need to provide proof of immunization (i.e. shot record) on the first day of school.

First Presbyterian Church (1006 North Elm Street, Lumberton) has slots available at no cost to parents for rising 5th graders to attend Camp Monroe in Laurel Hill, NC. All students can participate if they have transportation to First Presbyterian Church to catch the bus.
The full application and all necessary information are attached. When completed, you can email the application to Tomeika Munn at tmunn@lumberriveruw.org or drop it off at the United Way office at 301 N. Water Street in Lumberton. Applications are due by Wednesday, May 1st. (Disregard the March 25th deadline on the application.)

I think we can all agree that nothing beats a fresh cut to make you feel (and look) better! Our sixth grade boys were treated to FREE haircuts in preparation for their prom. We want to thank barbers, Brandon "Droop" Oxendine and Steven Tubbs for volunteering their time and talents to help our boys look their best for their sixth grade dance. Both of these gentlemen are licensed barbers who enjoy sharing their talents. We cannot thank these men enough for helping our students feel special.
Bus 49, Mrs. Darlene Chavis' bus, is experiencing mechanical issues. If your child rides this bus, they will be picked up later than usual. I apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.
It is Administrative Professionals Day. Help us recognize our bookkeeper, data manager, and payroll clerk, Mrs. Ciara Hunt, and our administrative assistant, Ms. Sonja Watson for the important roles they play in keeping our school running smoothly and efficiently. So much of what they do goes unnoticed because it happens behind the scenes, but we wouldn't be the wonderful school we are without them. Thank you Mrs. Ciara and Ms. Watson for all you do for Union Chapel School.
Let's give a huge shout-out to our awesome school-nutrition professionals who received a perfect score on their latest health and safety sanitation inspection! This is not an easy feat to accomplish and we commend these ladies on a job well done! Congratulations!

* National Administrative Professionals Day is Wednesday, April 24th. Show some love to our administrative assistant, Ms. Sonja Watson, and to our bookkeeper, data manager, and payroll clerk, Mrs. Ciara Hunt. These women do a wonderful job working behind the scenes to keep things organized and running efficiently.
* Progress reports will be passed out at Parent/Teacher conferences this Thursday, April 25th from 3:30 - 6:00. We look forward to seeing everyone Thursday evening.
