Today was the last day of Red Ribbon Week. We wore our Halloween costumes to say "Boo!" to drugs. We showed everyone that Union Chapel Tigers are not afraid to say no to drugs and yes to a drug-free life. Thank you to everyone who helped support our Red Ribbon Week celebrations. Although the dressing up was fun, we want to stress the importance of Union Chapel students being drug-free...for now and for life.

There will be hearing and vision screenings tomorrow for first, third, and fifth grade students. Parents, if your child wears glasses, please make sure they take them to school tomorrow. If the nurse finds a concern with your child's hearing or vision, a letter will be sent home.

This is a reminder that there will be NO AFTERSCHOOL TUTORING today. If your child normally stays for tutoring on Tuesdays, please make arrangements for them. Thank you.

A group of students used their PBIS points to purchase a field trip to the Lumber River State Park in Orrum, NC. The students were able to hike the trails and see an abundance of wildlife and plant life. They also got to sit on the deck and enjoy the scenic views of the only blackwater river in the state.
The park rangers talked with the students about fire safety and then the students enjoyed a picnic lunch. Afterward, they wrapped up with a little playtime on the grassy area under the canopy of trees which included a few rounds of horseshoe.
We appreciate our Student Support Staff for providing this opportunity for our students. We also want to thank the park rangers for a remarkable day and the Youth-in-Parks Environmental Education (YIP-EE) Project for providing the funding to pay for our transportation.

National Beta Club is an academic honors program with a strong emphasis on community service. Their motto is "Let Us Lead by Serving Others."
Our Beta Club members participated in the Union Chapel Community's Make a Difference Day by spreading the message that Union Chapel Elementary School believes that all students should live a drug-free life and that no child ever deserves to be bullied. We appreciate these students for being visible, not only in our school but also in our community.
