A message from Superintendent Williamson

To the parents, students, and staff of the Public Schools of Robeson County,

On behalf of the Board of Education for the Public Schools of Robeson County, I am pleased to welcome you all back to another exciting school year. We are looking forward to working with each of you to ensure our students have a year filled with opportunities for growth and success.  Over the past year, our students have demonstrated their resiliency, and we are looking forward to seeing them back in our classrooms and hallways, filling our schools with their enthusiasm for learning. Our teachers and staff have demonstrated their perseverance and commitment to education. We are eager to have them join our students once again in face-to-face instruction where they can offer personalized learning and continue to build healthy relationships to help our students succeed.

The Public Schools of Robeson County is committed to maintaining a clear focus on what is most important to all of us – our students. Each of our schools will create a student-focused learning environment by providing our students with individualized instruction designed to meet their diverse needs, supporting our students’ mental and emotional health, and exposing our students to authentic learning opportunities that empower and inspire them to become future-ready.

Strong positive bonds between homes, community, and school are essential to the success of our students. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to play an active role in their children’s education by offering support at home and communicating with teachers about their children’s needs. Along with the additional support of our trusted community partners, our students will have the opportunity to thrive in a positive school climate.

Ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff remains a priority for the Public Schools of Robeson County. We will continue to follow guidance from state and local health officials, as well as the CDC. Our plan to help protect our students and staff from the spread of COVID-19 includes promoting healthy hygiene behavior, physical distancing, and enhanced cleaning protocols. Masks will be required for all students and staff in our school buildings and on buses, regardless of vaccination status. While we understand the importance of face-to-face instruction and are committed to keeping our students in the classroom, we ask our school community to be flexible and patient throughout the school year as we make decisions to keep our students and staff healthy and safe.

I wish our students, staff, and the entire school community a safe, successful, and exciting school year. While I know we will face many challenges and opportunities for growth, let us remember what Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  Together, we will have a wonderful school year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Freddie Williamson

Superintendent, Public Schools of Robeson County
