UNC Pembroke Summer Bridge Program flyer


PSRC students, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke's Summer Bridge program is now accepting applications!

The university is currently seeking 40-45 incoming UNCP students to apply to participate in UNCP’s Summer Bridge program for summer 2023 for FREE! 

UNC-Pembroke's Summer Bridge Program is a six-week academic success program that engages incoming first-year scholars and prepares them to discover, belong and thrive as they transition to a university environment for no cost!

Summer Bridge is designed for various underrepresented incoming students to ease their transition to UNCP. The program is open to all students but priority is given to students that plan to study in the fields of science, business or mathematics (STEM). 

This program is designed for students in Robeson and surrounding counties that can commute to UNCP.  Enrolled students will take college-level courses and engage in academic success and career exploration workshops while developing leadership skills and becoming active and engaged citizens.  

Offered Summer Session II: June 29 – August 3, 2023 (June 26-27 Required Kick-off events)

The priority deadline to apply is May 1, 2023 Students should submit this before attending an orientation session.  All participants MUST attend an orientation session in May/June. 

Program Overview:

  • ENG 1050: Composition I & writing lab hosted by their instructor (3 credits)
  • MAT 1050: College Math OR MAT 1070: College Algebra (3 Credits)
  • Assigned a Peer Mentor
  • Participate in study hall led by trained tutors
  • Partake in Bridge Events (pool parties, bowling, kickball, outdoor movie, volunteering, end of summer ceremony, etc.)

Summer Bridge participants will:

  • gain knowledge of the UNCP community, resources, and departments 
  • expand their understanding of themselves within the context of the UNCP community 
  • establish a sense of belonging on campus 
  • connect with opportunities to become involved and engaged at UNCP
  • develop relationships with other students, their assigned peer mentor, and staff/faculty 
  • gain knowledge of the academic and social support resources available to UNCP students 
  • develop strategies for navigating the rest of their Brave Experience
