Jessica Sealey

LUMBERTON, NC – The Public Schools of Robeson County proudly announces that Jessica Sealey, Chief Communications Officer, has been elected to serve a two-year term on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA). Her term will begin June 1, 2025, and run through May 31, 2027.

Sealey joins two other newly elected board members—Heather Louise Finch of Nash County Public Schools and Wanda Walker of Guilford County Schools—bringing a wealth of experience and fresh perspective to the organization’s leadership. NCSPRA, a professional organization committed to strengthening public school communications across North Carolina, continues to grow its impact with the support of outstanding leaders like Sealey.

“Jessica’s commitment to authentic storytelling, transparency, and community engagement makes her an ideal addition to the NCSPRA Board,” said Dr. Freddie Williamson, Superintendent of the Public Schools of Robeson County. “We are incredibly proud of her and know she will represent our district with excellence.”

Sealey’s professional journey began with a strong foundation in journalism, including her work with The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s student newspaper, The Pine Needle, an internship at The Laurinburg Exchange, and experience at The Robesonian, before transitioning into public school communications.

Since becoming Chief Communications Officer in 2022, she has led strategic communications initiatives that amplify the achievements of students and staff to strengthen public trust, and foster positive relationships throughout the Robeson County community.

“I am passionate about serving, leading with my heart, and making a positive impact on others—values that align deeply with NCSPRA’s mission,” Sealey said. “I look forward to supporting school communicators across North Carolina and elevating the vital role we play in education.”

Alongside Sealey, NCSPRA members have also elected new officers: Valerie Newton (Sampson County Schools) will serve a second term as President; Dr. Tracey Helton (Guilford County Schools) as Vice President; Aarika Sandlin (Vance County Schools) as Secretary; and Jada Jonas (Iredell-Statesville Schools) as Treasurer. Their terms will also begin on June 1, 2025.

NCSPRA Executive Director Ellen Boyd shared congratulatory remarks for newly elected board members and officers.

“Congratulations to all newly elected board members and heartfelt thanks to outgoing board members Shayla Cannady and Dr. Lindsay Whitley for their outstanding service,” Boyd said.
