Mission: “Educating All Students by Building a Foundation for Learning in an Ever-Changing Global Society”
Vision for Literacy in the Public Schools of Robeson County:
We believe that all teachers contribute to the progression of literate, college and career ready students. The Comprehensive Literacy Plan for the Public Schools of Robeson County integrates a balanced approach to reading, writing, speaking, listening, language, and 21st century skills within each content area.
PSRC will increase capacity of all instructional staff to effectively teach reading and writing evidenced by PSRC’s Professional Development Schedule as measured by student success on summative assessments (EOG, EOC, NC Final Exams, ACT, WorkKeys).
All students will increase reading proficiency by showing growth as measured by goals set within individual school settings; NCDPI assessments and EVAAS data will be compared annually to determine if reading proficiency has been achieved.
Beginning the 2013-2014 academic year, all students will write routinely across all content areas for a range of time frames, tasks, purposes, and audiences as measured and evidenced by a portfolio of student writing samples (i.e. digital portfolio, writing folders).
By June 2017, all graduating seniors will be college and/or career ready as measured by the college readiness indicators set by the ACT and/or as measured by the attainment of at least a Silver Level on the WorkKeys assessment.
